Workflow diagram in offset printing..

Hi all, I'm a new member here, so nice to meet you..

I'm studying technology of graphic arts, and I'm currently preparing workflow diagrams for offset printing..
I have done all prepress workflow diagrams (both conventional and digital), but I could really use your help in order to design some workflow diagrams for sigle-color, two-color, and four-color printing presses.

My point is...What exactly are the steps in order to print a four color project, using a single-color, a two-color, and a four-color press...?

Thank you for your time, and excuse my english...

generally they require 300 dpi, in the CMYK mode and saved as tif, jpg or pdf with 2 mm bleed to each side.

With todays technology, I would never recommend printing a four color job on a two or one color press. In fact, if a printer tells you they can print your CMYK job on a 1 or 2 color press, RUN! You won't be satisfied with their work. Offset Presses can succumb to all kinds of registration problems. You have to deal with environmental concerns, paper stretching or shrinking, humidity, plate stretching, poor side guides, etc...

Now if your asking specifically for educational purposes, the order to lay down the inks is exactly how the Acronym is spelled out. Run your Cyan then your Magenta, Yellow and Black in order.

Hi Nik,

I can telll u about 2&4 color process, which i am familiar with.... In 2 color machines 1st we print magenta-Cyan & 2nd Yellow-Black, In 4 color machines Normal process as we call CMYK and ha these are one of our method which we follow, Many other printers have their own method of printing for their ease.
