Best Press Calculation

Hi All,

How does a printer know which job to apply the work and turn/tumble process to. Is there a rule of thumb?

Thanks

RE: Best Press Calculation  (in reply to Max

The rule of thumb in the shops I have worked in is to work and turn everything you can because it usually cuts plate usage in half and reduces makeready time. Some jobs, say a postcard, would be better perfected 4/1 than to work and turn and wind up with heavy 4 color on the left and none on the right side of the sheet.
